How I Process This Data

StreetSmart downloads, processes, and combines these datasets to power comprehensive apartment background checks. Here's what we do:

Data Joining

We link records across datasets using BBL (Borough-Block-Lot) and BIN (Building Identification Number) to create comprehensive building profiles.

Computed Insights

We calculate risk scores, rent stabilization likelihood, landlord report cards, and 24 other intelligence metrics from the raw data.

Text Analysis

We parse violation descriptions to detect pest issues, heat failures, toxic materials, and other specific conditions.

Pattern Detection

We identify recurring problems, construction harassment patterns, and shadow landlord portfolios that aren't obvious from single records.
