All information displayed on StreetSmart is sourced directly from official NYC government databases and is already publicly available. NYC Housing Preservation & Development (HPD)
The official landlord registration database for buildings with 3+ residential units. Contains building IDs, landlord contact information, registration dates, and compliance status.
To request corrections: Contact HPD to update registration information or report non-registration.

NYC Department of Finance (DOF)
Historical property sales data including sale prices, dates, buyer/seller information, and property type. Enables tracking of building ownership changes and market trends.

NYC 311
Real-time complaint data from NYC's non-emergency hotline. Residents report heat/hot water outages, noise complaints, rodents, sanitation issues, and building conditions. This powers our Live Pulse feature showing quality of life issues at any address.
To request corrections: 311 complaints are submitted by residents. If you see inaccurate data, you can submit a new complaint with corrected information.

We link records across datasets using BBL (Borough-Block-Lot) and BIN (Building Identification Number) to create comprehensive building profiles.
We calculate risk scores, rent stabilization likelihood, landlord report cards, and 24 other intelligence metrics from the raw data.
We parse violation descriptions to detect pest issues, heat failures, toxic materials, and other specific conditions.
We identify recurring problems, construction harassment patterns, and shadow landlord portfolios that aren't obvious from single records.
